Midwest Mountaineering Outdoor Adventure Expo
The 54th Bi-Annual Midwest Mountaineering Outdoor Adventure Expo is the place to learn about outdoor adventure! It will be held on April 27-29, 2012. The Expo takes place at Midwest Mountaineering, 309 Cedar Ave. So. Minneapolis, in big-top tents behind the store and across the street at the U of M West Bank Campus auditoriums. Over 120 free outdoor adventure presentations will be seen by over 10,000 people, all passionate about the outdoors. The presentations will feature silent sport activities that range from “Choosing a kayak paddle” to major expedition slide shows and movies. Featured speakers include Andrew Skurka, “4,700 miles” of backpacking and pack rafting a huge circle around Alaska; David Liechty, Backpacking the Pacific Crest Trail with “Mom Dad and Baby”; Justin, “Trauma”, Lichter will showcase his Great Himalaya Trial Traverse, 2500 miles across the world’s highest mountains; “Wisdom Wars” will feature renown outdoor authors Cliff Jacobson and Kevin Callan dueling canoeing wisdom; Dave and Amy Freeman will show photos and tell stories about their 2,700 mile canoe adventure from Great Slave Lake in Canada to Lake Superior; Midwest Mountaineering’s owner, Rod Johnson and his wife, Sharon, debate on how to lighten your pack, hike the Utah canyons, and hike the John Muir Trail; Rudi Hargesheimer takes you on a Big Lake (Lake Superior) photo essay; Mike Libecki shows photos and tells tales from climbing in the remotest corners of the Earth. The Mike Libecki show has been moved to Sunday at 4:30pm. 85 exhibitors representing outfitters, resorts, manufacturers, magazines, outing clubs, environmental groups, trail associations, and more, showcase themselves to would-be adventurers seeking places to go and folks to go with. The Outdoor Adventure Expo is the place to mix and have fun with others that love the outdoors! Admission to the Outdoor Adventure Expo is FREE The Radical Reels Tour will be and Saturday at 7:00pm.
