Riverbrook is on Velocal (www.velocal.org) as a Wisconsin group ride, and we're inviting anyone and everyone who's interested to join up!
So, what the heck is Velocal and why would anyone join? Well, it's a "web-based ride scheduler for fans of cycling. VeloCal allows bicyclists to create groups and schedule rides. Groups can be public (allowing anyone to join at anytime), restricted (requiring riders to be approved before joining), or private (where the group is essentially invisible except by group members who can join by invitation only). Registered users can join or create groups, create rides, join rides, and receive email reminders and ride invitations. Riders can also mark their attendance options and leave comments about the ride." Riverbrook created a public group for communicating the details about their shop rides, mountain trail rides, and ski outings..
If you happen live outside the Hayward/Cable area (e.g. Mpls/St Paul area, Madison, Milwaukee, etc) and travel to our area for fun and fitness, it's very handy as you'll get a quick note to your e-device about upcoming shop rides, as well as an automatic reminder late in the week regarding that weekend's (or weekday) ride. You can also join multiple groups (or create you own), and then be able to see them all on the online calender (very handy). Planning on a ride is tough enough with all our busy schedules, knowing about them in advance with some certainty and clarity is really nice..
Joining a ride group (or creating ones own) such as Riverbrook's is really easy.. Just login to Velocal.org and follow the instructions. After you receive your login credentials, you can come back in and join the Riverbrook group in the Wisconsin state drop-down.
