| Tacx Virtual Reality Trainers Sale The Doc is so busy with the XC ski business he's decided to sell the shop's eight Tacx 40 real life, virtual reality stationary trainers. They are going for only $899 each (that's nearly half regular retail). A two-year manufacturer's warranty is included. You can take advantage of this deal and turn your home into a winter cycling training studio. Bring your bike in and try one out.
Eric Wolcott XC Clinic Saturday Eric Wolcott returns Saturday, October 13 to Bicycle Doctor Nordic Ski Shop for another dryland/roller ski clinic. Join this CXC Elite Team skier for expert coaching. One more clinic will be held November 11. Space will be limited. CLICK HERE for registration info. Teri Landowski Wins Euro Ski Trip Teri Landowski from Lake Mills won the drawing for a trip for two from among participants at Garrott Kuzzy dryland clinics around the country this fall. 40th American Birkebeiner Nearly Full If you are on the fence deciding to ski the Birkie or Kortelopet you better make up your mind. The entries topped the 9,000 number last week and the 10,000 limit will soon be reached. CLICK HERE for more info. It Takes a Village to Create a Blizzard It won't happen without you. The snow we skied on most of last winter at Lapham Peak didn't fall from the sky. I came from snow guns. This was all paid for by donations by skiers like you who value reliable XC recreation and don't want to drive hour upon hour to find it. The Friends of Lapham Peak annual Blizzard snow making fund raiser is on its way. CLICK HERE to get the snowball rolling and see your donation matched dollar for dollar. Season End Events Benefit Bike Fed The cycling season is wrapping up with two great annual events, one in Madison, one in Milwaukee, that put the fun in fund raising. Both benefit the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, the only organization devoted exclusively to making bicycling better for you. Friday evening, October 26 the ninth Saris Gala celebrates all things cycling at the Saris plant near Madison. There will be food, fun, costume contests, auctions, music and cycling celebs. This year special guests will be Tim Blumenthal, who heads People For Bikes, and 'Tosa native Matt Busche who in just a few short years has pedaled his way to the top level of international cycling. Saturday, October 27 the third annual Halloween Costume Crawl ride will wend it's way through Milwaukee on bikes to entertain and amaze the unenlightened public. The start/finish is at Cafe Hollander on Downer Avenue (register at 9 am, start at 10). The ride is free, but funds raised from raffles will benefit the Bike Fed.
There will be prizes for best costumes (each rider gets a ticket to give their fave) and games like Infinity Spiral, Apple Bob Relay and Beer Barrel Bump. This year the first 50 ghouls wearing HCC wristbands will get free entry to Creatures and Creators Halloween Party at Turner Hall that evening.
