Lapham Loppet January 18

The premier ski race in southern Wisconsin, the Lapham Loppet, is set for freestyle and classic skiers Saturday, January 18 on the 11- kilometer black loop at Lapham Peak.  Challenging and exciting skiing are a big part of the appeal.

'Tis the Season for Donations

The end of the year is the time we get many donation requests as they can usually be used for tax purposes.  Below are a few you may wish to pay attention to.

CXC Nears Fund Raising Goal

CXC (Central Cross Country) has been doing wonderful and much needed work.  To read testimonials from lives impacted by CXC
CLICK HERE.  They are getting close to reaching their $40,000 challenge grant goal, but have just a day left until the end of the year.  CLICK HERE to make a donation.

Lapham Peak Man-Made Snow Skiing

We're reveling in some of the best local early season skiing in years.  But we all know that if there is a snow god, he/she/it can giveth and can taketh away.  And we know we've got the man-made snow at Lapham Peak in our back pocket.

Why should you donate now when the snow is already made?  The fund raising is ongoing to meet current expenses and future trail expansion plans.  CLICK HERE to learn more.

Wisconsin Bike Fed Makes Biking Better for You

The WI Bike Fed has been making progress to become a truly state-wide organization that can have a positive impact of the quality, accessibility and safety of cycling in our state for all types of riders.  There have been many achievements, but many challenges remain.  CLICK HERE to donate.

Free Skis & Ski Lessons January 7

Don't forget the Doc's offer of free use of high performance classic and skate ski packages for the lessons on Tuesday, January 7 at Lapham Peak.  The skis will be available on a first come basis by 5 pm.  You can simply leave them with the Doc after the lessons.  There will be discounted rental the following weeks.  The free lessons will run at 7 pm Tuesdays  though February 25 weather permitting.

Get Your Ski Gear While It's Here

Just a head's up that if you're thinking of an XC ski equipment or accessory purchase you would be wise to make it now.  There is good snow almost everywhere in the country.  Suppliers have little left for restock.  Last year the Northeast, a big market, had almost no snow.  Suppliers ordered less.  This year New England can barely shovel out.

New Years Cheers & Shop Hours

Oh what a year it's been!  Skiing to the end of March and in early December.  Topping it off was a not-too-hot pretty dry summer biking season.  Let's hope 2014 is as good.

We will close at 2 pm New Years Eve, Tuesday, December 31 and be closed New Years Day.  We really appreciate your business and friendship.  Our best wishes to all.

Happy trails,
The Doc
