Pre-Birkie Wax Clinic Tuesday, February 18
 This coming Tuesday we'll have a good handle on the Birkie race day forecast. TOKO rep Ben Lund and Start rep Evan Pengelly will be at Bicycle Doctor Nordic Ski Shop at 6 pm to give their recommendations for prepping skis for the big race. And it's free. Waxes will be 10% off along with deals on energy products and skiing accessories. All winter clothing, including the incredible Bjorne Dahle line, are now 25% off. Count them all up and the Doc and staff have over 100 Birkies between them plus many other marathon ski events. So, when you have questions about skis, wax, nutrition, clothing or race planning, you are talking to people who have been there and done that. And they love sharing their knowledge and stories and hearing yours. They can even give you directions to the Moccasin Bar in Hayward where Doc staffer Phil Van Valkenberg annually sings his Kortelopet song at 5 pm on Birkie day. Or, listen to the Doc's recording of it on WOJB 88.9 radio along with other Birkie song when you are up there.
Forget the Fuss and Leave the Waxing to Us
If you want fast skis for the Birkie, Korte or Prince Haakon let us prep your skis ahead of time. We'll have wax recommendations after the Pre-Birkie Wax Clinic Tuesday. If you've been following the Olympics, you may have seen men and women athletes skiing with rifles on their backs. The sport of Biathlon combines skiing speed with target shooting skill. Recovery rate is key as racers must be steady to hit their mark. This Saturday, at McMiller Sports Center near Eagle, young competitors will race and people interested in Biathlon can give it a try.
