State Meet Waxing, Sales, Birkie Wax Service
BNS is loving race season in the Midwest when we really get to put our wax expertise and racing knowledge to work! Stop by the shop at 90th & Penn in Bloomington to talk waxing and pick up whatever you need for the rest of the season.
BNS will be at Giants Ridge for the MN State High School Meet. We will be testing on Wednesday and Thursday and will be on hand to answer questions and offer recommendations and advice. Forecasts call for fresh snow Tuesday into Wednesday and then the bottom falls out with race-day morning temps in the teens below zero.
We have some great recent experience with similar conditions from the US Nationals in Houghton this January – every day was fresh snow below zero. The lake effect snow in Houghton was wetter then we will probably experience, but it’s important to be prepared for higher-humidity conditions as well. It is common for overnight humidity to climb at the Ridge when you see all the trees and bushes covered in hoar frost in the morning.
It is essential to use SkiGo LF Graphite as a first layer. We use this in 100% of our race wax applications. For Thursday, paraffins that will be in the mix include Holmenkol Matrix Green which has a lower fluor content than the warmer Matrix HF waxes, SkiGo HF Green mixed with C380 cold powder, Start MF10, and Start HF10 mixed with Toko X-cold powder.
Kick waxes that will be worth testing are Guru Green, SkiGo XC Green, SkiGo HF Violet (better in new snow than HF Blue), and Rode Green. Good cover waxes include Rode Alaska, Swix Polar, and Start Terva Black. Find us to get our recommendations on what is kicking and gliding well!

Birkie Race Wax Service. We will be in Hayward for the full week before the Birkie ramping up our race waxing for the Birkie. You can drop off your skis at our Bloomington location at 90th & Penn by 3:00pm Wednesday or at Riverbrook Bike and Ski on Main Street in Hayward by 11:00am on Friday. Skis will be available for pick-up at Riverbrook from 6:00-9:00pm on Friday.
