FREEMAN and SWENSON SIGN WITH FISCHERConcord, NH -- Fischer USA is excited to announce that the top two American Cross-Country skiers have extended their contracts with Fischer for the next three years. Kris Freeman and Carl Swenson have signed contracts to use Fischer skis exclusively through 2005, including the 2006 Olympics in Italy. Both athletes posted some of the best American results in history during last seasons World Championships in Val De Femme Italy. Freeman finished 4th in the 15km just day days after winning the inaugural Under23 - 30k Classic also in Italy. He finished the week by decimating the field in the opening leg of the men's 4x10k relay. Swenson placed 5th in the 50km skate after breaking a pole early in the race. Both Kris and Carl had very successful U.S. Nationals results, winning all 5 of the races between them.
Freeman said; "I feel lucky to be signing with the best ski company in the world. It is an honor that they chose me to represent them and I will be proud to race on Fischer for the upcoming seasons." Fischer is committed to helping these athletes become the best in the world; "My goal in ski racing is simple I want to medal in the Olympic Games. I chose Fischer skis because I believe they will enable me to achieve my goals." Freeman said. Justin Freeman, recently appointed to the U.S. Cross-Country A Team, has also moved to Fischer skis for the next 3 seasons. "Fisher is very proud to continue its support of America's best skiers and is looking forward to some impressive international results from these athletes this season." said Eli Brown, Nordic Racing Director for Fischer. Fischer will feature Freeman, Swenson and other American athlete in it's advertising for the coming season.
