Surrounded by 240 acres of lush mixed forest, just 17 miles north of Eagle River is Afterglow Lake Resort. In the winter, guests can venture onto the 7 miles of packed snowshoeing trail, take a spin down the 300-foot tubing hill, or check out ice skating or a game of broom hockey. Afterglow is renowned for its ski trails, and guests can cross country ski right from their doorstep onto 11 miles of trails meticulously groomed for striding and ski skating. The hundreds of rolling woodland acres at Afterglow provide ideal terrain for cross country ski trails, allowing one to ski mile after mile in utter tranquility. Dependable snow is usually present from early December well into March, frequently including "lake effect" snow from Lake Superior. Afterglow is located mid-way between Sylvania and Anvil trails, making these other cross country ski trails only minutes away.

Afterglow began with the dream of Bert Moline in 1949 and is still run as a family resort by the Moline family. Fifteen housekeeping cottages are available with wood-burning fireplaces and numerous amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Large groups or small will find cozy accommodations, ranging from 1 to 5 bedrooms in size.
