George Szymansky Killed

A very tragic bike accident occurred on Friday. George Szymansky of Lake Elmo, MN was killed when he collided with a grain truck on a rural road outside of Rochester. He was riding with a large group of teammates at the Loon State Cyclists training camp based out of the Whitewater State Park in SE Minnesota. The accident is under investigation but no further details are available at this time.

Fellow team member, Jim Peterson was also injured. He is currently at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Jim has a fractured collarbone that is being surgically repaired tonight but fortunately, no other serious injuries.

George was an outstanding 53 year old man who was liked by everyone who knew him . He was an experienced and competent road and mountain bike rider. Further details will follow as they become available.
