DXC Snow Ball Gala Recap

DXC was thrilled to host a sold out crowd at Norway Hall for its inaugural Snow Ball gala on Valentine's night. It was a great chance to gather as an outdoor and Nordic skiing community, see old friends and meet some new ones.

The Snow Ball gala raised funds for DXC's capital campaign to ensure the future of cross-country skiing in Duluth, including investments in ski infrastructure like restoring the Lester-Amity Chalet and bringing the Grand Avenue Nordic Center and snowmaking-enabled xc trails to life in Duluth. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of DXC's first annual community cross-country ski awards. The George Hovland Award went to George himself, for his lifetime achievements and contributions to cross-country skiing.

John Ipsen received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Glen Sorenson received the Charlie Banks award, for outstanding area junior/high school coach of the year. Anja Maijala of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton received the Patrice Jankowski award, as 2016's top area female high school skier with Sam Olson receiving the Mark Herman award, as 2016's top area male high school skier.

We look forward to another great event and chance to gather next year!
