MSHSL Proposal Voting Results

Coaches,

I would like to thank everyone that participated in the voting on the MSHSL proposal. The results are as follows. The proposal passed by a vote of 136 in favor to 25 against. The next step is to submit the proposal to the MSHSL in February and then the proposal will run its course through the various committees before reaching the MSHSL Board of Director’s for its final decision at their June Meeting. We will need support and help from the coaches throughout this process. Please talk to your ADs and various other MSHSL reps to let them know that you are in favor of this proposal and would like to see this change made to our sport.

Here are the stats on the voting…

Based upon Head Coach membership there were 167 possible votes out of 193 boys and girls MSHSL registered teams. Our association represents over 86% of the programs in the state. The proposal passed 84.5% to 15.5% of the votes cast. This also translates to 70.4% of all 193 programs in the state voted in favor of the current proposal. There were 2 votes cast by a not current member of the association, so as per our by-laws those votes cold not be included in the results. There were 6 available votes not cast by member head coaches. That leaves the balance of 24 boys and girls teams in the State.

There are currently 6 teams signed up to participate in the Multi-Event meet at Camp Ripley on January 16th. There are still more spots available to attend this meet. If your team is interested in attending please be sure to contact Rollie Ring-Jarvi. [email protected]

Current Teams signed up for this meet are…

Bemidji
Brainerd
Detroit Lakes
Little Falls
Mora
Willmar

Lastly, Bruce from Skinnyski sent me a message to remind coaches to submit your results to him at Skinnyski. I know that there have been several meets already with this new snow. Make sure that either you, someone on your staff, or the person providing the timing for the race submits the results to Bruce at Skinnyski. Bruce uses your results to provide the state rankings for us. The more results he has the more accurate the rankings. Here is the website for more information on submitting your results. http://www.skinnyski.com/racing/display.asp?Id=24218
