Moose Nordic Urban Sprint Championships

On Wednesday afternoon, under a cloudy ski, twenty four of the Midwest's top juniors gathered in front of a St. Paul urban home to see who would claim the crown of Moose Nordic Urban Sprint Champion. After hours of volunteer work shoveling snow, carving out banks and grooming the trail, the course was ready. It featured multiple climbs including the harsh "A" climb along with technically challenging parts like Steve's bank and the narrow path between the fence and window well. Only one pole, a ski, and numerous dreams of glory were claimed as victims. But out of the field of broken wishes rose Tamer Mische-Richter and Nicole Schnieder as champions who out skied the rest through qualifying and head-to-head rounds. Followed by pizza, awards and an inspirational speech, the skiers basked in the fun-loving community and then headed home hoping that next year, it could be their day in the Moose Nordic spotlight.
