Minneapolis South High School Nordic Ski Coach

Seeking a Head Nordic Ski Coach for the 2015-2016 season. The season runs from Nov. 10th through the middle of Feb.

Required Qualifications:

• Competitive Nordic ski experience in both classic and skate ski races.
• Knowledge and experience necessary to coach Nordic skiing;
• Great organizational and communication skills;
• Demonstrated experience with ages 14-19 and with a full range of athletic talent.
• Willingness to develop training for a full range of skill and support the “South” spirit
• Willingness to devote time to developing the program, dependability and responsibility;
• Ability to pass a required back ground criminal history review
• Able to travel with the team.

Specifics related to the job:

• Collaborate on a yearly schedule of meets with other MPLS schools
• Work with school administration to garner support for team and team needs
• Serve as a South employee in terms of use of facilities and management of the team
• Develop skiers individually and by like-skill groups to reach their full potential
• Set, communicate and follow-up on expectations
• Set travel schedule for practices and meets
• Hire Assistant Coaches and work closely with Booster club to support these hires.
• Work with Assistant coaches to share the workload and establish responsibilities, logistics
• Scheduling of busses, to train and to meets
• Transportation of skiers
• Wax program
• Ski rental
• Equipment, uniforms
• Meet management
• Trip management
• Support a full ski rental program with the help of the boosters to encourage a broader range of students to train and complete with South High Nordic
• Work closely with South High Nordic Parent Booster club to provide information, spear-head skier communications, etc
