Midwest Junior Championships and Festival: March 4-6, 2016

The MJC, hosted by the Loppet Foundation and the Minnesota Youth Ski League, is a weekend of competitive and festival events focused on youth and young juniors. It is a great way for all middle school school skiers that raced with their High School teams to have a chance at age group competition, as well as a friendly way to introduce younger kids to competition. Hundreds of kids, ranging in age from 4-15, from beginning to more advanced, from around the Midwest will participate. This is the final stop for the Skiwerx Series and CXC Youth Cup. Age groups run from U8 to U16.

Weekend Schedule:

  • Friday, March 4 (evening): Classic tandem sprints.
  • Saturday, March 5: Classic Individual Start and Age Gap Relays, where adults and kids pair up as relay partners. Festival events include activities ranging from Scooter Soccer to Paintball Biathlon to Skijoring Demos.
  • Sunday, March 6: Freestyle Mass Start, SkiCross, and Mixed Four-Person Freestyle Relays.

Make the most of your winter and keep skiing! It is the best thing young skiers can do for their development.

Register today! The next registration price hike will be on February 18. Click here for more details and to register. Info on Skiwerx and Skiwerx-affiliated programs at www.mysl.org

Volunteers are always appreciated! Please contact Allie at [email protected] if interested.

Looking forward to another energetic and successful weekend!

Additional Information:

MYSL skiers: Come and have some fun on Saturday at our Festival and Fish Scale Frenzy! The MYSL trailer will provide equipment if you usually rent at your club location. Festival events will feature paintball biathlon, skijoring demos, tug of war, scooter soccer, skicross and more. Any MYSL club that pre-registers at least 12 kids will have a fresh pie waiting for them! We know, it’s too good to be true!

Those interested in competitive events: We anticipate this year's Midwest Junior Championships to have significant fields in the U14 and U16 categories. Athletes will be coming from all over Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
