Borah Epic Recap

Hayward, Wisconsin. Though less than ideal weather conditions, the fourth annual Borah Epic stayed true to its roots by providing a challenging, epic experience for all participants this past Saturday. The point-to-point mountain bike event traversed the trails of the Chequamegon National Forest in Northern Wisconsin with a strong field of top men’s and women’s competitors, followed by an equally resilient group of participants, simply looking to conquer the Half and Full Epic race course.

The finish line conversation was absolutely euphoric; with tales of the day’s conquering experiences, including that of the women’s overall winner and Borah Teamwear brand ambassador, Courtenay McFadden. McFadden, of Bellingham, WA, flew in for the race and said, “The course was awesome. The trails had the perfect amount of flow to keep me entertained for the 37 miles, and getting to take home the win for Borah was the cherry on top!”

Jesse LaLonde, a previous two-time race winner, finished second in this year’s battle and said, “It’s the best mountain bike race in the Midwest. Up front it was pretty gnarly. We each took our turn on the front trying to shed one other, which felt like a UFC fight on wheels.”

Since 2013, the event has contributed over $37,000 to the trails, with all profits going towards the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association. The 2016 donation figure will be released this June. Men’s and women’s top-3 results, plus links to full results and media are below:
