Skinnyski.com High School Rankings - Final

Commentary

Sections were surprisingly uneventful, with nearly all the favorites advancing.  Mara McCollor and Anders Sonnesyn, Wayzata, captured their section titles with convincing wins.  Garrett Beckrich, Grand Rapids, took the section 7 title with authority and Cooper Lennox, Mora, continued his winning ways in taking his section.  Hannah Bettendorf, Proctor/Hermantown, looked great in a strong section final, as well as an impressive performance by Triana Willmert, Edina, in collecting her section crown.

While nearly all the teams advanced to state as we had suggested in the Sections Preview, there is still a lot of parity in the top ten.  In particular, we push the Stillwater girls to the top of the leaderboard as the team seems to have their stars ready for the big finale.  But confidence is not high in those girls rankings and it will make for an exciting state meet.  The boys team order is only slightly better, with Wayzata remaining the top dog.  The battle for second is tight and that top five could all make a case for being bumped up.

Note: Kelly Koch remains #2 in our final rankings, but she will not be competing in the State Meet because her overseas competition in Finland, combined with poor snow conditions earlier in the season, made it impossible for her to compete in the required number of races to qualify for sections.
