  One of the last large tracts of undeveloped lakeshore in western Minnesota (9.2 miles) lies within the park. The gently rolling topography is an excellent example of original landscape transition from prairie to northern hardwoods. This hilly, lake-strewn, and partially wooded countryside is an excellent setting for x-country skiing. Most trails are fairly level, and easy to ski.

  I've heard stories of incredible climbs and descents. Offers stunning views of the Mississippi River. Mainly expert trails.

  Nice winding trails, the Arboretum trails are rated beginner to moderate and are located right in Brainerd. Nearly 5K of the trails are lighted.

  Cragun's has upgrade the grooming in recent years. Connects with Legacy Trails. 
Cambridge 6  Spirit River Nature Area    6 km    
  Trails roll through the woods along the Rum River, in the West Park section. 
Cambridge 7  Springvale County Park    8km    
  Mildly rolling to level trails in multiple loops through prairie and woods. 
Carlos 8  Lake Carlos State Park    5 mi     320-852-7200
  Classic-only trails are moderate in difficulty and cover rolling terrain. 
Center City 9  Wild River State Park    55k     651-583-2125
  With trails from beginners to expert and a very modern, heated trail center, Wild River State Park is one of the hidden gems for cross-country skiing in eastern Minnesota. The Aspen Knob loop is extremely challenging.

  4 miles of classic groomed trails. Intermediate level. Trails go through woods and open grass lands, view of Collinwood Lake and wetlands. Deer, turkey and pheasants are likely to be seen.

  All classical, mainly single track trails. Terrain varies from challenging to easy. 
Fergus Falls 12  Spidahl Ski Gaard    20.0K     218-736-5097
  Spidahl Ski Gard (farm in Norsk) is a private touring center located in sugar maple hills four miles south of Maplewood State Park. It has trails groomed for classical and skate skiing with ski and snowshoe rentals available. The owners, Cindy and David Spidahl, love to ski and it shows in the trail layout and grooming.

  Trails wind through the park's 150-acre wildlife preserve. Located on the south end of Glenwood. A technical, hilly course. 
Kensington 14  Andes Tower Hill Ski Area    20km     320-965-2455
  Nice variety of terrain on mostly wooded trails adjacent to commercial ski area. Both classical and skating tracks. On some Saturdays, breakfast is served at a warming house halfway down the trail--call for availability. 1.5km lighted. 
Loerch 15  Wolf Lake Ski Trails    15K     218-824-1114
  The terrain is level to hilly. The forest is a mixture of hardwoods and mature pine.

  3.5 miles of classic groomed trails. Marshes and forest canopy, excellent area to view wildlife. Intermediate skiers will enjoy this park. With small hills and flat areas it is an excellent destination.

  Hardwood forest and conifer stands along rolling hills with 13 km of wilderness touring with vista overlooks and 100-foot elevation changes. Log shelters. Located northeast of McGregor in the Savanna State Forest, adjacent to Savanna Portage State Park.

  The city of Milaca trails are single tracked and groomed for traditional skiiing. These trails are open to mountain biking (12 mi.) in the non-snow season. 
Monticello 19  Harry Larson County Forest    3.2km     763-682-7693
  Two miles of classic groomed trails. Just North of Lake Maria State Park this is and excellent warm up. With rolling terrain, mature oak forest with pockets of big tooth aspen, this is primarily for the intermediate skiers.

  Beginner to intermediate skill level, primarily intermediate. Rolling terrain goes through wooded areas, old growth forest areas, and past lakes and ponds.

  Two miles of classic groomed trails. These trails are set on a paved trail. Flat trails through a pine plantation next to the Mississippi River. Good for first time or beginner skiers.

  Easy to moderate skiing.  
Mora 23  Vasaloppet Nordic Center Trails    5K     320-679-2629
  This trail system starts and ends at the Vasaloppet Nordic Ski Center, located on the north edge of town. The Nordic Center offers a waxing room, showers, and a sauna. Open throughout the season.

  Intermediate to challenging trails with lots of ups and downs. Double tracked, predominantly one-way loop trails. Skate ski from park office to Mt. Tom for a spectacular winter panoramic view of the area. 
Nisswa 25  Grand View Lodge - The Pines    23 km     800-432-3788
  Gentle trails running through The Pines Golf course at Grand View Lodge. Trails groomed by Ginzugroomer on a daily basis, mostly classical with about 10K skating. Mostly Intermediate to some Expert. 
Onamia 26  Mille Lacs Kathio State Park    32K     320-532-3523
  Ski trails available for beginners to expert skiers. The park has 10.9 K of easy trail, 12.4 K of moderate trails and 8.7 K of difficult trails. All trails go through wooded terrain. Ski rental is available in the park.

  Trails are mostly easy and intermediate but there are a few challenging sections. 
Saint Cloud 28  Graystone Trails    17km    
  About 17km total of trail loops near the St. Cloud penitentiary. Some scenic woods and great hills. Just a mile from the Mississippi, trails run on land that was formerly a farm and takes skiers through pastures, forests, and apple orchards. Trails are mostly easy to intermediate with a few challenging hills.

  Flat to rolling hills right in downtown St. Cloud, just above the Mississippi River. 
Saint Cloud 30  VA Medical Center    2.5km    
  Located across the street from Apollo High School, the flat, grass field (one small hill) is groomed and offers a decent low snow skiing option. 
Saint Joseph 31  Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park    5.2K    
  The Wildwood Ski Trail is about 3.5 miles long, with 1/2 mile of trail crossing private property. This is one of the most beautiful public ski touring trails in Central Minnesota. 
Sandstone 32  Audubon Center of the North Woods    13K     320-245-2648
  The trails go through mixed forest and one section is in an open wetland area. The Center is located 6 miles east of Sandstone on Grindstone Lake. Open to the public.

  Beautiful classical trails through the woods and along the Kettle River with its scenic rapids.

  A shorter trail system with views of the Mississippi River. 
South Haven 35  Stanley Eddy Park Reserve    12km     763-682-7693
  Two units with a combined 7.5 miles of trail. Trail is very hilly excellent big woods environment. Experienced skiers.  
Spicer 36  Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center    10K     320-354-5894
  Varied terrain featuring prairie, woods, wetlands and scenic views from atop glacial ridges. Nice area for novice and intermediate skiers. 
Stacy 37  Falcon Ridge Nordic Trails    10K     651-462-5797
  Located on the grounds of the Falcon Ridge Golf Course, the trails are a mix of skating and classic. 
Sturgeon Lake 38  Camp Miller Loop    9 mi     218-393-3595
  The 9 miles of groomed ski trails spread over 340 acres at the YMCA Camp Miller. Wooded, lakeshore, some small vistas. Few people, skijouring welcomed. Check in with Director upon arrival.  
Waite Park 39  Quarry Park and Nature Preserve    6.2km     320-255-6172
  Trails are easy to intermediate with an outer skating loop and inner classical loops. Trails take skiers past abandoned quarry holes and rockpiles at this former granite mine. Roughly 4 miles of lighted trail classical trail. 
Warman 40  Vasaloppet Public Ski Area    25K     320-679-2629
  Also known as the Vasaloppet practice area. Located about 12 miles north of Mora. Uses much of the Vasaloppet trail system near the start of the race. Open throughout the season. 
Willmar 41  Swan Lake Ski Trails    5 km    
  This system of trails runs on the moderately rolling terrain of the Eagle Creek Golf Course. Trail head is situated between Eagle Creek and Swan Lake and offers a great skiing experience for any level of skier. Groomed and maintained by volunteers of the Willmar Nordic Ski Club.  
Zimmerman 42  Sand Dunes State Forest        763-878-2325
  Rolling trails through the Bob Dunn Recreation Area at Lake Ann, in Sand Dunes State Forest. Five loops: Green and South Red (Campground) Loops are beginner, mostly level; Blue, Yellow and North Red Loops are Intermediate, and the Orange Loops is a hilly "More Difficult". Ski trails adopted and maintained by Backcountry Trail Patrol.
