Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Icy with dirt and rocks showing through in several places on the perimeter trails on Pike Island. The trails going across the island were in better condition.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Unexpectedly good.
1/2 to 1 inch snow Sunday on frozen ground and ice covered all but a few blemishes on Pike Island trail. Tracking is sufficient that the minimal snow gives a good kick. Enjoy it before it disappears!

Conditions: Poor. Tracks melted out with dirt, sand and gravel coming through.
Rock skis recommend. Looking forward to more snow.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Lost/Found
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Fair, some ice that is no problem, but tracks also wearing through to gravel here and there.
B skis around Pike Island this afternoon. Scraped skis on gravel poking through the tracks a few times, until I started watching for thin spots. Otherwise fast and fun. For the person missing a coat... It is at the nature center.

[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Recently tracked.
Skied the Pike Island loop yesterday afternoon. Tracks were pretty decent with a few icy spots. Encountered gravel coming thru in a spot on the Mississippi side, but easily avoidable. Lots of deer spotted just off the trail as well as the turkeys on the drive into the park. Beautiful sunset as well.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good, tracked and packed. Classic only!
I skied on the freshly packed and tracked trails from the park entrance around pike island and back. Really nice, a little thin in spots; one spot on pike island was very wet.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Fair. Thin coverage.
Some skier made tracks. Mostly firm-icy but a few softer sections of track on trail edges here and there. Sections with debris from tree work. Can be skied with care. Recommend rock skis.

Grooming
[ Bare ground ]
All trails in the park have been packed. Tracks were set on the Minnehaha Trail and on Picnic Island on Friday. Pike Island has been packed but we still don't have enough snow to set tracks.

Afternoon

Pike Island was packed but not tracked. Snow levels were low. The trail was liberally littered with gravel/rocks in many places. It made for a difficult ski. I would wait to go back until we get more snow.

Conditions: Trails have been packed throughout the park. Tracks have been set on Picnic Island and the Minnehaha Trail.
Join us for a New Year's Eve Candlelight Walk! 4-8 pm. Note: Walking on the trails is for one night only (Dec 31st)... we're lighting Pike Island up for our annual winter event. We'll be back to "normal" on Jan 1st.
