Notes

Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 35    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Sunday, February 21, 2016
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Crusted as expected but the fairways were glorious - just had to walk on grass to get to some of them.
From 3:30-5:30 was a fun adventure. I do this every year, hope this won't be the last time this season.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Thin new snow over icy trails.
There is about a half inch of quite good snow over all the compacted icy trails. Hard to locate actual trails but for a couple hours this Monday morning the skiing was OK. Will deteriorate soon.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Ungroomed and icy.
Until we get more snow we will not be able to groom the very thin base out there. Much of the trail is glare ice so please be careful.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: 2/3 soft, 1/3 good skating. 37F at 10 AM.
Most was still soft, warmer temps made the snow sticky too. Some areas were more packed down and made for some good skating. Some thin spots under trees, and a couple completely bare spots. Trail is wide enough to avoid skiing directly over the bare spots.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Groomed, a little soft around 11:30.
I skated. Wide skate lane with great coverage throughout. It was a little soft still, and the groomer cut off a few sections so the course now measures 5.95K.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Soft. Grooming now.
Just went for a lunch ski. Skate deck is soft, but no bare areas. Classic track looked to be in "ok" condition.
As I was finishing my workout, the groomer just started out. If it sets overnight, it should be good skiing on Saturday!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Pristine unbroken snow if you want, some classic trails made.
No grooming. Lots of unbroken snow. But there are classic tracks laid down along a lot of the usual paths. If you stick to the tracks already broken you should be able to avoid the sand and ice traps. Snow is very deep so I'd recommend extra socks. But not at all fast. No crust on the snow so breaking fresh trail was easy where it was needed. Snow is very fluffy and has very good coverage except in a few spots that blew down to mostly the ice under.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Somewhere between extremely fast and the fastest snow I've ever skied on. Surprisingly, I could still get a little bit of edge when skating. If you make it out later today it may have loosened up and edging could be even better. I used good skis. Some grass on trail but very avoidable. Classic tracks were there but skied like a luge track. Get out and enjoy it! If you wait for absolutely perfect conditions in the metro you'll ski 2 days every three years.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Groomed this afternoon- excellent condition!
A nice wide skate lane and decent classic tracks set in the fresh snow. Nearly 100% coverage on skate trail, some grass poking through in classic tracks but minimal. Good depth. Slow snow and a bit soft since it hadn't had a chance to set up. Thanks groomers!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Classical track very good considering snow depth. A few grass spots showing, but they can be skied over without a problem.
Around noon today at 28F temperature, my Power Grip 4 kick wax was perfect today. The track was fast and fun!
