Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good to very good.
Skate lanes were groomed on Thursday. New track was not set due to conditions. Warm weather from last weekend and lack of new snow has made the trail surface icy and fast.

Skated most of the trail this morning and it was excellent. Classic not groomed since new snow but much of it is skied in but looks uneven and rogh.

About 2" of new snow Tuesday afternoon, skate lanes groomed this morning but classic left to be skied in. Skied about 10 k, lots of work in fresh snow.

Firsthand: Classic

Skating excellent, classic just OK. Just below freezing today at After Hours, we skied from noon to 3 PM, and hit all the trails. All the skate lanes had been groomed, and were in great shape and quite fast, with plenty of edge. Most classic tracks had not been reset, they were nonexistent in some places, and old tacks in much of the system. Where they had been reset, they were quite shallow. Special purple did work for kick, and the classic only trail was skiable and fun, but the skating was much better. As always at After Hours, if they had not had much recent snow there are places with a fair bit of trail debris (pine cones, needles, leaves) which were easily avoided when skating, but were a nuisance in several places in classic tracks.

New snow just groomed. Soft fresh corduroy on the skate deck, classic track being set as I skied. Downhills slow enough that no snowplowing needed. Delightful!
