There have been few reports from Telemark, the reason may be that only one trail is groomed. Sad to say the many ironic loops sit idle including the Bauer/former Korteloppet trail around the old ski hill. The good news is that the one groomed trail starts at the old coliseum area and connects to the new Birkie start area, so the entire Birkie and North End trails are accessible. Thank you Birkie and North End groomers. If you're staying in any of the condo units, you can still ski out your door. Plus you're given a complimentary trail pass. Conditions are excellent. It was slow going yesterday with 2-3 inches of new snow ungroomed. But today the Birkie trail was firm with fresh tracks and cord. Great for either technique.

Walked the short walk from the Telemark condos to put on my skis. My heart skipped a beat as I put on my skis on a beautiful freshly groomed track. Started classic skiing on a perfect track only to find the track gone after 1/3 K. All of the area from the new start area to the end of the power lines had been groomed with fresh corduroy. A skaters paradise. However all tracks had been wiped out. Huge disappointment. Found out that trying to skate on skins is not much fun.

The trails around Telemark Resort are snow covered to 6 or 7 inches with an inch of ice crust on top. Looks like no skiing around the resort trail for the near future. Unfortunately it is our time share week at Christiania. Alternate exercise, hike to the top of Mt. Telemark.
