Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 96    Month: May | Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Still a lot of snow on large sections of trail. Warm overnight, so classic skiing was rather slow this morning. There are some short breaks in the snow, which is why rock skis are preferable, but I used good skis with no problems. Stayed on Valley and the long arm of Greenstone. First day of my seventh month of skiing this season.

Snow was soft and dirty but very good for May 2. There are some bare spots but maybe 96% coverage. Very skiable for both classic and skate.

Beautiful grooming of over 13k of trails for great skiing this morning. Thanks, Pat and Tom, for excellent grooming all season and for one more good day this morning. Skate surface was clean and fast, and the track was deep, clean, and fast, too. Many skiers were out to enjoy one of the last good days of skiing in a six-month season.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Grooming plans: we will be tilling and tracking approximately 15-20K of trails Saturday. Pine, Powderhouse, Papa Bear, Flamingo Hill and the Multipurpose Loops are closed. This will be the last weekend for grooming at Swedetown. Thanks for a great season everyone and we'll see you soon!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All open trails tilled and tracked (Pine, Powderhouse, Flamingo Hill, and the Multipurpose Loops closed). Very good conditions prevail throughout the system. We are loathe to admit it, but it seems like the warming trend will continue. Grooming will consequently be suspended throughout the week, but we will try to get out for one last hurrah next weekend. Grooming completed at 7:30 am.

Get 'em while you can, because supplies are going fast! Snow that is...Trails were tilled and tracked this morning, but the snowpack is starting to warm up quickly every day, resulting in soft conditions fairly early in the day. Nonetheless, conditions are still good/very good/excellent! Grooming completed at 9:30 am.

Fresh grooming this morning. Best spring skiing in awhile. Attached photo was taken on Birch Loop this morning. Conditions get soft as it warms up but great in early morning.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All trails are tilled and tracked, with the exception of Pine, Powderhouse, and Flamingo Hill. Be advised that snow accumulation from the recent Nor'easter vortex are leading to soft skate lanes and filled classic tracks in some areas. Conditions are very good to excellent. Grooming completed at 1 p.m.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
After almost five months of use, the trails are showing a little bit of wear and tear with an accumulation of debris and sun damage. The trails at Swedetown are still in good/very good condition, and all open trails were dragged this morning. There will be no more grooming on Pine, Powderhouse, and Flamingo Hill this season. Grooming completed at 10:30 am.
