Notes

Newly paved and lighted trail following the Red River of the North with a definite Nordic feel. The course is mostly flat but there are some small rolling hills in the approximately 2k of lighted trail. Viking Ship Park is named for the Viking ship replica Hjemkomst that is on display at the adjacent Hjemkomst Center. The ship was built in the area and sailed to Norway in 1982. The park is also the home of an authentic replica of a Norwegian Stave Church. This beautiful wooden church is illuminated by flood lights at night, so this is the perfect place to get in that "inspirational" after-work rollerski in the fall. The trail also connects to the Dike East/Lindenwood trail system in Fargo via a floating bridge across the Red River. (Submitted by John Pfund)
