Starts at the Mankato YMCA and heads northeast through quiet neighborhoods. Once you're out of town the Red Jacket climbs gradually about six miles to Rapidan. Trail gets more smooth as you leave town. (Submitted by Brian Koeneman) Pros: Absolutely no traffic. Smooth, safe, and scenic. At mile 4 the trail passes over a tressle bridge with a great view. Miles 3 to 6 are under the trees. No fees. Cons: It's only 6 miles (12 round trip).
