Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Groomed. Firm skating lane. Classic track is windblown and dirty.
Lot of debris in the classic track in the pines. A lot of leaves in the track on the back 2k. Need snow. I would suggest that classic skiers avoid the pines.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Very good, groomed today.
Skate lane was groomed today and is in excellent condition. Classic track was not re-set and got lightly nicked in a few turns by the groomer but is still good. High winds have caused some tree debris to land in the usual places at the start and finish area, the outer 2k loop is clean. Very light skier traffic today.

A little debris under the big white pines, otherwise very good.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Freshly groomed. The skate lane is soft. Classic tracks are firm.
We are finally able to get good skiing without 1-2 hours of travel. Conditions are so good, you won't want to quit.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Boiler plate hard, icy, no tracks on trails nearest the warming house. Lots of pine cone seed and debris.
Just stopped in while in Cloquet to try skiing there. Had rock skis. Youth coach told me there's a 2.5 km Loop furthest back of the system that was skiable. He took several kids there. I was not interested in struggling to get there. I did about 2KM total and turned back. Amazing how well the Cloquet Esko Carlton ski team is doing for practicing there!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Groomed today, skate lane only with no classic track set (appears too thin to set).
Freshly groomed this morning. Despite amazingly thin snow cover, the best skating deck I've been on all year, no kidding.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Good skate skiing on hard packed surface. Not tracked for classic (I'm guessing due to not a lot of snow). Beautiful and quiet trail through conifers: I'll be back!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Accessed the White Pine Trail on the west side of Spring Lake Rd. 2-3 inches of snow, untracked with a single skied in track.
Walking and dog tracks present. The trail is skiable, although it is hard to stay on the soft single track.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
The trail is ungroomed but lots of ski traffic has made for a fairly fast trail. There are some bare spots and "rotten" spots from too much water under the snow. The back half of the trail is in very good condition.
