Conditions: Awesome! Plenty of snow, groomed several times a week.
Skiing at HV is great, it's a great trail system and there is plenty of snow to be had. Come experience Ely in the winter!

Conditions: Plenty of snow, perfect grooming.
Perfect and firm tracks. Smooth and firm (but not hard) skating platform. Above zero temps. Regular grooming. What could be better?

Conditions: Fast and crusty.
It's like spring skiing without the midday thaw. Classic tracks are so firm fishscales hardly gripped. Still lots of snow in the woods.

Conditions: Great coverage and grooming.
Day 2 on the Tour de Ski. Ely was -10F at the start and zero when done but no wind. BScraped and brushed my skis for so today was a little easier ski then yesterday. Hidden Valley is a hidden gem for sure, make the trip if you are ever up here.

Conditions: Hard base covered by plenty of snow. Everything is groomed with the exception of Hannah's Trail and Pine Park.
Great! Get up here. A bunch of snow fell on the 3rd. More fell the next week. Classic tracks are set everywhere. The skiing is buttery smooth. Best skiing is...everywhere.

Conditions: 2 or 3 inches of new snow on top of thin hard packed base. Grooming started in afternoon. Good to very good skating conditions.
Fresh snow hadn't quite set up yet, but great to have new snow cover to ski on. Looks like more snow is on it's way too. Thank you Ely Nordic Ski Club for maintaining this great trail system.

Conditions: Surprisingly good!
Wow, after yet another meltdown, the trails are groomed, snow-covered, and fast! Rock skis still recommended, and no classic tracks set, but I am delighted at how good the skiing is despite how little snow has fallen so far this winter.

Trails are groomed for skating and are in very good condition. Multiple light snowfalls since last week have added up, resulting in a nice base. The cold temps forecasted for next week should set it up well. Used my good skis and didn't see any rocks. Thin in a few spots but the best trail conditions so far for this year.

Conditions: Darned good skating, considering how little snow we've gotten!
Ely has only received flurries, until -- thankfully -- two inches yesterday. Most of the trails are rolled and groomed, with some surprisingly good-looking classic tracks. I'm still using rock skis but, since yesterday's snow, haven't come across any.
