Day two of a major winter storm here and the ski conditions here are ungroomed but excellent nonetheless. We've got a very solid and fast 5-10cm base of ice and granular snow with about 15cm of dense snow on top of that, and it's still snowing pretty hard at 6pm. Good glide for skating and the snow is fast despite the depth. Aside from a few good sized drifts, the trails are smooth and there was no need for concern using my good skis. The only problem would be getting to the trails... my 2km drive to Kamview would've been impossible without four-wheel drive. Skiing should be excellent tomorrow through to Saturday morning at least once the snow tapers off and settles a bit.

Aside from some very thin snow cover right outside the chalet, there's actually very little evidence of the latest thaw once you're out on the trails. No new snow yet, but all the main trails have been groomed a couple times yesterday and today and are in excellent condition. The skate lanes are solid and level. Classic tracks looked good for the most part with just a few very small sections that looked a bit rough or icy. The only trail that was closed was the Tamarack, so there's probably quite of bit of overflow and ice in the swamp. No thin spots and only a few small ice patches on all of the trails I skied.

Over 30km tilled and track set. Pristine mid-winter cord and deep tracks. New sections on "doggie trail" skiing perfectly. Nice to get off sleds and into heated seats, finally! Come up and see us.
