Great (almost) spring day on the trail. Fabulous views and sounds of the East Branch of the Beaver River as you ski along. The snow from yesterday is melting fast but you can still enjoy yourself, especially if you are very careful on the downhills. There is no grooming/track so I broke trail for the most part. Also, had to go around, over, and under several windfall trees. Fun!

Beautiful trail, perfectly groomed, a gray and wonderful mid-winter afternoon with temperatures in the mid-20s.

Ice, Ice, Ice. If you're looking for a wild, fast, ride, this is trail system for you. No way to groom through this conditioning (according to the ranger). New snow or some melting will be needed to improve conditions.

The trail is in excellent condition. Grooming is recent enough that the track is in excellent shape. Plenty of snow with about 2 feet of soft snow off the trail. The connector to Tettegouche is groomed and the track is set. A wonderful ski today.

Skied most of the loops throughout the system. Despite the cold day, the woods provided protection from the wind and the snow was dry but quick. Beautiful grooming. This is a great place to ski (classic only) on the North Shore without driving all the way to Grand Marais - there's plenty of great snow coverage here. Note: If you plan to ski the connection over to Tettegouche SP, note that the connector trail wasn't groomed but was previously skied on by a couple others. The trails in Tettegouche are said to be in good shape.

Excellent. There is a lot more snow over the hill than closer to Lake Superior and the trails are in very good shape. Great single classic track winding through the forest. Beautiful bright afternoon - and lots of skiers were here enjoying it.

Beautiful. Excellent track. Light snow falling added some powder to an already good base. I skied Hartley yesterday and was nervous on the icy downhill runs; this trail has equally steep/long hills and with the softer snow, they were super fun. One of my favorite trails--I heartily thank those who maintain it!

Good coverage in the open, but thin in spots under the conifers. Trails had been cleared, packed and tracked (thanks folks!). Great spot to ski and be sheltered from today's gale-force winds. This is a great, intimate trail through the woods, and forms part of the Northwoods-Tettagouche route thru the Palisade Valley, one of the premier day tours on the North Shore. You may want to ski it soon as there was flagging and signs indicating portions of the area are part of a state timber auction - understandable as the balsams are really thick.
