Trail Reports

2016-2017 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 13    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec
Sunday, February 19, 2017
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Conditions were perfect for skating Friday morning, but not today. Skate deck was getting icy, with just enough snow in spots to get an edge. Even in the woods there are bare spots. The powerline was the best shape, and the hill going to the high school.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good to excellent stride/classic and skate skiing. Today's grooming of about an inch of new snow produced good coverage on a level base. There is good control and a firm classic track remains.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good to excellent skate and classic/stride skiing. The skate lane was groomed this morning. The trails are level, offer good coverage and the tracks are firm. During warm weather, morning and evening skiing should be better.

Night
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Recently the Spooner area received about 8-10 inches of new snow. The trails at Spooner City Park have been groomed. I strode the trails this evening, they are very good to excellent, providing good coverage. The trails are level and firm, there is a 2-4 inch deep classic track. There is some blowing snow in the tracks down by the soccer fields. I didn't need a headlamp as a super bright full moon was out to light my way.

Best skiing I've seen around, good grooming and most of the sticks are taken off the trail. Very fast tonight!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
This morning, the ski trails were groomed for skating and tracked as well. The trails are in good to very good condition with a few icy spots. A new classic track was set but is shallow due to lack of snow. The trails have good coverage with a few undulations.

The Spooner area recently received about three more inches of snow. On Saturday, the trails were groomed for skating and a new stride track was set. The trails offer good coverage with a few undulations. The snowshoeing and fat bike trails are getting some use as well. Enjoy, Merry Christmas!

Early Friday most portions of the trail were in fair to good condition. A few leaves and some debris in parts, but overall classic tracks were set and pretty well groomed. Beautiful scenic trails through wooded areas and protected from wind.
