Raced to the trailhead of County Rd. F after work and got on the skier-tracked trail a little after 6:00 pm. Initially skied well but deteriorated once I took the less heavily skied trail across the channel to the east side Sucker Lake. Track kept collapsing as I kicked with my right leg and every time I lifted my skis snow would stick or clump on my ski. There was no track after you reached the bench at the opening next to the residential subdivision across the street. Once I got back to the west side, I skied pretty well again. I used Rex Red, which was the right wax. It performed well as long as you stayed in the track and did not lift you ski.

Trails were not groomed, but light and fluffy snow allowed for me to easily follow footsteps. Made for a pretty darn good april ski.

There were a few groups of skiers helping break trail heading SE from the Vadnais parking lot. Breaking trail was easy thanks to the snowmobile who made a pass last night. Great easy ski sheltered from the wind.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied about half the Vadnais trail around 5 pm. Snow coverage and texture were good, only a few patches of ice under the snow. The tracks were a bit messy, but I'd rate them fair to good, and it looked like the whole trail was tracked, but I didn't ski all the way to the loop and back, only about halfway. Overall good classic skiing.

First time skiing at this park for me. The trails are fully open, no bare ground and tracks are set. This park has only classic tracks. The snow fully covered all portions of the trail with some drifting near the lake and some blowing from the trees. The snow is very soft. Ski this now while conditions last!

Skied the Sucker portion, there were some leaves in the tracks, and a good amount of ice. There hasn't been much new snow lately, so that would make it better. Not bad, but it could be better.

Arrived just past lunch time and the groomer was there. He did a wonderful job of setting new tracks. Only a few places where there was a bit of ice in the tracks due to low snow depth. Too bad the walkers can't figure out where to walk.

Groomer has been by in the past 2 days to make fresh tracks. Conditions along Lake Vadnais and west side of Sucker Lake are excellent. Still no grooming on the east side of Sucker Lake which is too bad because those are some really nice hills that give variety to the Vadnais/Sucker terrain. Snow coverage on the east side of Sucker Lake is very good but ski trails are very bumpy with boot tracks.

Both trails are out/back, fairly flat, double tracked and very scenic. Sucker Lake trail has one side loop that goes along the creek and is very pretty. Vadnais trail runs along the lake, is also very nice and has a skate deck. The groomer actually made a little ledge along the path on the north side so you can ski right up to the railroad tracks before taking your skis off to cross County Road F to access the Vadnais Lake trail. Another fun little area that we haven't been able to ski for years! Thank you groomers.

Groomed with 2 sets of classic tracks, which are deep and solid with full coverage, only a few leaves and sticks. Tracks were getting a little icy in spots around sundown. It doesn't look like the east side of Sucker lake is groomed. Would not recommend skating, the lane is narrow with many boot prints. Best conditions I have seen at Vadnais and Sucker Lake in several years.
