Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Rock skis ]
It ain't great, but it's still skiable. Plenty of coverage, except for one stretch near the campground. First time all year I missed the kick wax. VR55 did nothing. Universal klister wound have been better. The debris is starting to collect and the sun is burning through quickly. Don't dawdle.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With 10 inches of new snow, the skiing here was great. Both loops were groomed, but not tracked with classical tracks. However, even skiing classical was wonderful with the great new snow everywhere. Thanks to the staff for their effort to groom the trails!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The trails were groomed Tuesday afternoon, a track was not set. Conditions are still good for skate and classic skiing, though with the warmer temperatures and sun, parts of the trail will be thin in places. Keep your fingers crossed for more snow!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Rock skis ]
Trails were in poor condition with many rocks and sticks poking through making it more of a dance to avoid all than ski. There was one completely bare spot you had to take off skis. One loop and I was done.

Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most ]
Hartford received around 4 inches of snow yesterday. Trails groomed this morning and are in good condition. Snow was to thin in the campground loop to groom, due to the pavement.

Very nice conditions, good skis. Nice grooming for classic and skate. Fast and firm base, little debris. No manmade, all natural.

Conditions were very good today at Pike Lake Unit. There is a decent base and the trails seemed to have been groomed a few days ago. No major bare spots, just a few thin spots, and tree debris in a few places. The skating surface was better overall than the classic tracks. The trails are narrow and uneven, sometimes concave or convex, or slanted, which makes for a challenge to one's balance. Overall, a very enjoyable ski on the brown loop. Very few people, mostly classic skiers.
