2015-2016 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 18    Month: Mar | Jan | Dec | Nov
Saturday, March 5, 2016
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Bare ground ]
Trails pretty good for not much snow. It's packed in nicely. Good classic skiing, probably not good skate skiing. A few brown spots but not much. Had to park at UW-Parkside because the parking lot is closed for logging. Get out while you can. Warm weather is coming.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Poor, icy, bare spot poking thru.
I skated them Monday night in the rain and they were parts that were about to be unskiable. After more rain and warm weather I would avoid until more snow.

Observation
Conditions: Getting thin and parking lot is closed.
Went to ski around 3:30 PM and parking lot closed due to Logging Operations in the park. Not sure how long this will be going on for. You may want to check the Kenosha County website before making the trip.

[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Skating groomed only Saturday morning. Some icy spots.
6k of trail has been groomed for skate only. There are still some icey spots. Parking is problematic due to Pets parking closed. There is some parking alone E near 31. Hoping this groomed conditions will not ice upon the upcoming cold snap.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good and very fast.
Skied between 7:30 and 9:00 pm as the temperature was dropping. The groomed based was becoming hard packed, but not icy or crusty. Very fast, but more of a challenge to maintain balance. Pick marks from walkers could present a hazard. Thanks and kudos to the groomer.

The trail was great for skating this morning. A little slow in places from the warm up. No ice, great cover. Thank you groomers! Exceptional job.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good fast firm and recently groomed.
Midnight ski this evening hence couldn't see the trail in detail, but she felt great. Fast, good coverage. Props to the grooming peeps as the trail is in excellent condition given what modest snow you have to work with. Brilliant!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Very good, 1 to 2 inches of snow plus a little dusting today was enough to cover the rough spots.
Skiing today was great. Snow felt fast despite the cold. Thanks Charlie for an excellent grooming job.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good for skating.
Just groomed the trail and leveled it out for skating. No classic track set due to lack of depth of fresh snow. Some icy spots and not all the trail was able to be groomed by the pines. At least 6 k had been done.
