Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skated most of the trails at Carver. Sky and Lake were very good to excellent. Grimm was very bad, with several stretches of frozen puddles. Probably not fixable without more snow and below freezing temperature (see photo). Very unfortunate, as Grimm is my favorite. Lots of footprints near the nature center, but still very skiable.

Conditions range from glare ice and bare ground to perfect for classic. Trouble area are easily avoided though. Skate deck looked soft but well groomed with ample snow.

Excellent, freshly groomed. Skated Grimm trail. A few wetter, stained spots and only one small (5 feet) spot had to walk around. Fast, fairly firm. Could use A skis but nice not to worry about any damage.

Track set for classic and skate side has had one recent pass with groomer. Could use a few more passes. Getting icy as the sun sets. Would recommend coming out after grooming in the late morning then leaving before sunset. Some large ice-snow balls on King trail.

Beautiful day for a ski! The groomers were still in process mid-morning. I skated King which was fine but looked like there had been heavy traffic. The downhills were fast, rutted, soft snow and someone had walked on the entire trail. The first downhill looked like it wasn't groomed but they had just started it over the crest. The groomers had started on Grimm and downhills were better, overall better condition but still soft. The classic lane looked pretty good all around except in windblown areas.

Skated Lake Trail twice. Deck well-groomed but soft. No bare spots Problem area at King Trail cutoff was finally covered; some grass tips showing, but easily skiable. Asphalt crossings were also fully covered and skiable. Classic tracks sticky (warm, sunny day).

Skied Grimm Farm and Sky. Grimm is quite nice, although icy down by the lake and in a few other spots. Sky Trail was lovely. Classic track not set on Grimm.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Grimm, Lake, Sky, and Sugarbush. Grimm is mostly good except for a few bare patches at the top of the last hill. Sugarbush is good, as is sky. Lake Trail is mostly good, except for the far side of the lake (near the King cutoff) which has a lot of bare spots. The track is firm but not very smooth. I think I snowmobile went on the trails last night.

Only skied the King Trail, but I encountered many spots where a lot grass was poking through. The S turn downhill was navigable but sketchy.
