Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
We tested some equipment this morning in the upper stadium at Wirth park. If you are looking for one last little ski, and I stress little, the upper stadium has been groomed. The snow is essentially ground up ice, but is fine to ski on. Uou could do some sprints or agility or lap around the 200 meter outside edge. There are no other place to ski at Wirth, everything else is pure ice or bare ground.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
Close to unskiable. Twin lakes likely gone after today. Weaving around the growing bare spots was challenging especially the downhills. Very good kick running up hills on bare ground. Full snow coverage at upper and lower stadium areas if you want to ski back and forth. First downhill from the upper stadium was good. Second hill was completely bare. Took fast face plant when a ski pushed through what appeared to be good snow onto gravel. Saw two others arriving as I left at 2:30.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
The crew groomed Twin Lake Trail, Skyline, and JD Rivers this morning. It was all groomed for skate and only Twin Lake was groomed for classic. The snow depth was insufficient to set tracks in the other locations. We will attempt to set tracks in the other locations after the snow has had time to set up. The conditions are ok, with grass and sticks showing through in a few areas. The Skyline trail is probably in the best shape since it is on the golf course and the grass is mowed the shortest there.

The maintenance crew will be shutting down the Hap snowmaking loop today at 4:00pm for snowmaking in preparation for the Midwest Junior Championships. Corduroy! The inch or two of snow on top of what we already had made a fairly tolerable ski outing. The groomers were out in front of me, so I had some corduroy, albeit gray in places. Overall, good coverage and you can't really ask for more given the season. I neglected to add a layer of fast wax, because I expected to be disappointed, but that wasn't the case. Classic tracks were fresh but I didn't try them.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We received about 1.5 inches of snow this morning. We are out re-grooming the Intermediate Loop (1.3k) and upper stadium of the Hap Lutter trail this morning. Access this area of trail through the upper stadium via the steps near the chalet. There was not enough snowfall to groom any natural snow trails.

Skied the upper stadium intermediate loop about five times. Surprisingly skiable, but it may not hold up to sun and rain. If you go this morning while it's cloudy it's still good. Saw classic tracks, that looked well defined, but didn't try them. Overall, the conditions were buttery, not potatoey. This intermediate skier logged their best pace of the entire season, further adding to the wackiness of the season.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
With the new reports, I thought I'd give Wirth a shot. Was out about 7:30 pm and no one else on the trails. If you go at night, bring a headlamp as only about half of the lights are turned on. With the generally rough conditions it made it hard to see what I was skiing over.

Observation
Went to Wirth Saturday morning for a family ski, based on the trail report from Friday. A sign at the base of the big hill outside the main chalet said that the trails were closed for maintenance. I walked up the stairs and the upper stadium was groomed, but did not look to have been skied. I stopped by the Par 3 building and it was locked. No cars in the parking lot. The park board employee at the main chalet didn't know anything. I'm confused.
