Notes:   A nice set of trails with rolling hills. The first lighted trail system in the metro, it still attracts a lot of after-work skiers.

Three Rivers Parks reports the trails as fair, Which is accurate as an overall assessment. There is grass poking through mostly on the north part of the Meadow loop. Various frozen puddles all easily avoidable. Lastly there is gravel poking up on the causeway. The Medicine Loop and the Skyline Trail are surprisingly good.

All trails were open except for the Hill Trail. The remaining trails were in okay shape, but I'd estimate only 1 or 2 days left before they're closed. Conditions were quite soft/sticky, plenty of spots had ground showing (yet you could ski around), and quite a bit of debris on the trails. Definitely not A-skis; B at best, probably rock skis by tomorrow.

I went back to French again this morning, and the trails were still holding up. The groomer had already been out and done an excellent job. The hilly areas on Challenge Hill trail, Medicine, and Skyline were perfect. There were a couple icy sections on the way back to Lakeview and the chalet.

It was perfect this morning at French. The skate deck was freshly groomed, level, and fast. There were a few easily avoidable brown spots. I talked to the groomer and he told me that he was taking out the classic tracks before the melt-down and a refreeze so he can reset them later. Three Rivers does a great job at all their parks. French was empty this morning as was Baker on Monday. So many skiers have forgotten about these gems over the last few low snow winters, opting for snowmaking at Elm and Hyland in droves. The skiing was great at French today.

French was in great shape this morning with fresh grooming for skating (no classic tracks). The trails had very good coverage with little or no debris and no ice. The groomers have done a super job maintaining the trail. It's unfortunate our weather isn't going to cooperate this week!
