Most trails are now tracked and in pretty good condition. Some variable conditions with some thin spots, so check out downhills before descending.

Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All ]
Groomer set tracks on some trails Monday. Grooming plans: Track setting should be expanded on Tuesday. A few inches of fresh snow really improved the conditions.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Did a three hour easy ski so got to see conditions on quite a bit of terrain. I'd avoid the advanced loops until we get more snow, but the hills I skied were quite skiable. The groomer was out in the morning and scuffed up the skate lane in the most popular routes. The tracks are old from before this last thaw. Most tracks (70%) could still be found and were nicely skiable. The groomers need more snow to set new tracks. It snowed about an inch today and skiing was very pleasant. There are no bare stretches, though I spotted a few thin areas. I'd say on the average there is 4" of base.

I debated between saying good or B skis. I went with B because of debris, and icy, not freshly groomed conditions. But, the snow base is solid and I saw no bare spots on the trails I skied. Per the signs I mostly stuck to the less hilly trails as the icy conditions were fast. Valley Spur has paused grooming through the warm spell this week, but shallow tracks were still good. Deck was good in most places, but had a few areas of ski ruts from previous warm day skiers. Glad we ventured over. Fun ski.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied 3:00 pm so got to see different areas. There is still a decent base. Tracks are old and variable in quality, though fine to ski over flats and rollers. Steep descents should be skied with caution if in tracks. The skate lane was pretty good. It was warm enough so that a noon ski was perfect. Not hard not soft. Not icy.

Trails are in good shape. I classic skied the south loops and had a very nice outing. Thanks for the grooming.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails are groomed. We have maybe 4-5" snowpack in trails. Tracks were set recently and we are leaving them alone. Skate is groomed when we get below freezing temperatures. Expect spring like conditions. Tracks can be icy in the morning.

We drove to Munising to find some deep, fresh snow and Valley Spur did not disappoint. The groomer was out this morning and he groomed almost all of the trails and set new tracks. First time skiing here and it is all in the woods and quite beautiful. Many, many kilometers to ski from fairly flat to quite hilly. The tracks were very good and skate deck looked very good also. I skied yesterday on skate skis and today on classic and I would say these trails are slightly better for classic as the skate deck is slightly narrow in spots. Really enjoyed these trails and the 'Highway to the Sun' segment was really nice.
