With the brief return of winter here on the border we got 4 to 6" of very puffy snow yesterday, and rolled most of Tilson Creek ski trail today. The level open sections look very nice, the rocky shaded sections are thin. We rolled the Green, Blue, Orange, Yellow, and Red, skipping the parts that were not groomed earlier. From now until slush time skating should be good - always be careful!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Warm weather has not yet done much damage to any of the rolled trails. Today we skated the blue trail and found good to very good conditions almost everywhere. The Main Blue at the "improved hill" is rough going and I would not ski it again. But the Blue Shelter loop is just fine. The rest of the system, given the lack of snow, is really good.

A warm up and another inch of snow, another day of rolling. We finally got at the Blue and Red trails and they will be ok for skating if you watch your step. The Green, Orange, and Yellow are getting better with each snowfall. I skated them yesterday and it was really good.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We have not groomed any tracks, and have rolled a skate lane on Green, Orange, and Yellow trails. Folks have skied in tracks on all but the east end of the Blue trail. Classic skiing is fine as long as you watch for the occasional log on the corduroy sections. It's been below zero daily so there are not many skaters but some have and report conditions are ok. I am classic skiing daily using rock skis and have heard a rock only once or twice.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
We rolled the Bogwalk and the Green trail this afternoon. The Bogwalk is fine for walking and skating. The Green trail is skiable but very uneven. There were no rocks visible. We also rolled a course on the ice around Tilson Creek south of the bridge. It's about 3.5 K and if the snow sets up and sticks to the ice should be ok for skating tomorrow.
