The oak trees have decided to release their persistent leaves on the trail, where they drift into the tracks. Leaves on top of icy base is a bad combination, so I ended up striding mostly on the deck, which was in better condition. Nice to have the whole loop still open. The groomers have smoothed out the lumps from a couple of days ago.

It was great getting back to Wirth today around noon! I just skied the Meadow and Twin Lakes loops a number of times. The skate lane and classic tracks were nicely groomed. There were definitely some oak leaves in the classic tracks, but still skiable with a little ice. There wasn't a soul around Twin Lakes at 1:00 pm. It reminded me of the early 70's back in the day at Theo! Thanks to the groomers for keeping it going!

Amazing morning! Temp in the teens, grooming was good, fun was had. A few sticks and leaves -- all easy to avoid.

Great snow this morning! Hard and fast, a tad slick. A few sticks and leaves on the trails but pretty easy to avoid.

It was cold, and windy, and conditions were great. The ice situation on Twin Lake loop is much improved - there are a few spots, but they are visible (dark) and they are easy to move around. Thank you groomers! The snow making on the tubing hill is blowing over a bit onto Trail 18. That, combined with the machine tracks, made me a bit cautious going down the big hill behind the trailhead, but it wasn't too bad.

I figured it might be icy and rutted by the time I got to Wirth in the evening but I'm so glad I made the trip as the conditions were far better than I expected. There were no ruts to trip me up and the little bit of snow that fell provided enough control that it was quite surprisingly a great ski. I did not do the Twin Lakes loop due to darkness and based on the earlier reports but the rest of the trails were in good shape. The wind even helped push me up the hill on North Finger. The snow guns were blazing by the tubing hill and the snow that drifted over from that added plenty of control to the hill by the trailhead building.

The trail was in great shape early this morning considering the temps yesterday. There were several icy stretches, but much of it was quite nice. Twin lake/Green Meadow were the icy spots - ice throughout Twin Lake, but especially bad on the final descent coming out of the woods and back toward the lower stadium. The downhills throughout that stretch were very icy this morning and could pose a challenge. North finger and La Squadra on the other hand didn't have any noticeable ice.

We started a bit before 9 am, and it was great! By 10:15 ish, the climbs were getting slushy, and some sections were getting quite tacky. Conditions were quite a bit slower during the second half of our almost two hour ski but, we had a great time -- I have a lot of gratitude that I got to ski yesterday and today.

Gorgeous morning at Wirth for a shakeout classic ski after the 50k Birkie yesterday. Tracks were icy but guru 39 hard with some red was kicking. That was the quietest I've seen it all year at 7am. Nice that parking is mostly opened by Trailhead and most the of ski trails were open. Thanks to the groomers and let's hope it can hold on a couple more weeks.
