Greetings, Canoe Derby Paddler!

Spring is here, the lakes are liquid (finally), and the itch to paddle is at
hand. The time has come to prepare for a sure sign of summer - Hoigaard's
Canoe Derby - one of the largest and longest running canoe races in
Minnesota. The 21st running of "The Derby" begins on May 30th and we invite
you to be there!

New this year: We are adding an eleventh race to our usual ten race series.
On August 15th we will hold the "Derby Finale", a fun race on a shorter
course with more bouy turns - followed by the annual championship award
presentation and "Paddler's Potluck".

We are also adding a non-transferable season pass option for those regulars
who don't want to dig out the checkbook each week. The cost is $83.00, a
savings of $20.00 over eleven races!

The races will be held on eleven consecutive Thursday's (excluding July 4)
from May 30 through August 15. Registration (on-site only) begins at 5:45 pm
each week, races start at 6:45 pm. Our first "Paddler's Potluck" will be
held on June 27, the second on August 15.

The entry fee will be $13 for your first race of the year, followed by $9.00
fees for all additional races. Note the season pass option above. You will
recieve a Derby T-shirt after your first race and each week ribbons will be
awarded to the top paddlers.

Location, divisions, and race course are unchanged from last year. Meet just
west of Thomas Beach on Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. For more detailed
