Camp Ripley Race / Northshore Training

Camp Ripley, MN -- Athletes from Minnesota, Maine, Idaho, Washington, Alaska and Canada came together for a week of training and racing at the Camp Ripley Biathlon facility. The camp focused on intensity combination training (rollerskiing and shooting) and concluded with two races. U.S. Development Team member Annelies Cook of Saranac Lake, NY put together two solid days of racing to take home two victories. Toni Slaughter of Maple Plain placed 2nd in the Sprint and just edged out Lindsay Burt of Boise, ID for 4th place in the Pursuit. Moving up in the Pursuit was Julie Warneke of Elk River, who turned in one days top ski splits.

Andy Erikson and Ryan Cameron finished 1-2 both days, but the Junior field showed its talent with some strong performances. U.S. Development Team member Chris Gadacz of Elk River finished 3rd both days with some of the best shooting in each of the races. Bjon Bakken of Duluth just back after spending a year training in Norway came in 4th in the Sprint and Bloomington's Brian Olsen finished 4th in the Pursuit.

Following the week at Camp Ripley, the Team moved up to the North Shore of Lake Superior, where athletes recovered with some easy volume training through sea kayaking, runs on the Superior Hiking Trail and a few games of Ultimate Frisbee.
