MINNESOTA NORDIC SKI ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ANNUAL MEETING
The Minnesota Nordic Ski Association (MNSA) will hold its first annual
meeting on Saturday September 22, 2001 in Clearwater, MN at Warner Lake Park
from 3-7pm. MNSA was recently formed to promote and advance the sport of
cross-country skiing in Minnesota. MNSA will be working with the Minnesota
DNR, trail managers, established Minnesota cross country ski clubs, resorts,
businesses, organizations and individuals to achieve their goals.
At this initial annual meeting, board members and officers will be chosen
for the following year(s). Candidates for the positions of President,
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer will be selected. Also, up to 15
board members will be elected, representing different regions in the State
of Minnesota and special interest groups such as the High School League,
Olympic Development, Youth Skiing, Tourism, Recreational Skiing,
Manufacturers, Retailers, Trail Associations and Chambers of Commerce. All
interested parties are invited to attend this meeting. A bratwurst dinner,
sponsored by Out-N-About Gear of St. Cloud will be served.
According to the Minnesota DNR Minnesota has 500,000 people that
cross-country ski. Minnesota is also home to the largest cross-country ski
club in North America, and has over 2500 miles of cross-country ski trails.
Minnesota cross-country ski retailers sell a large percentage of the
cross-country ski equipment sold in the United States.
The MNSA annual meeting will be held at the Warner Lake Nature Center from
3-7PM on Saturday September 22. Warner Lake is just a couple miles north of
Clearwater off of I-94. From the Twin Cities or south, exit I-94 at
Clearwater (MN Hwy 24) and proceed east for 1/2 block to the light at Cty.
Hwy 75. (Nelson Brothers) Turn left (N) on Cty Hwy. 75 for 1.1 miles. Turn
left on Cty. Hwy. 143 for 1.4 miles. Just as #143 crosses over the
interstate turn left into the nature center parking lot.
