HOLIDAY BREAK BRINGS TWO DAYS OF XC RACING TO WISCONSIN’S NORTHWOODS

Spooner Holiday Dash & Double Pole Derby Events Call Skiers North!

Hayward, WI  — With trails groomed and more fresh snow on the way, middle school, high school, and adult cross-country skiers have unique opportunities to don their skis and get ready to race in the north woods. Both the Spooner Holiday Dash and the Double Pole Derby will provide skiers with low-in-cost, yet high-in-fun, days of racing. Held over the holiday break, both events are a great way for skiers – teams, friends, families - to train for upcoming race events and feel good while doing it; both events are fundraisers for two high school Nordic ski teams.

Spooner Holiday Dash – 12.27.16, Spooner, WI

First up, the Spooner Holiday Dash. With mass start, freestyle races for both high school (6.5k) and middle school (3.5k) skiers; a hot chili lunch in the Spooner High School commons; concessions; economical registration fees - individual ($10) and team ($200); and “wax box” awards for top high school boy’s & girl’s teams, as well as middle school boy’s & girl’s teams; there is no better way to spend a day of holiday break for student skiers! The day will be packed with activities including races, concessions in the heated Great Hall, demos, awards, prizes, participant swag, and on-site parking. Proceeds from both events benefit the Hayward Nordic ski team. Registration information is available at http://www.birkie.com/live/training-programs/christmas-ski-training.
