The skate lanes have been freshly combed for skating and new track set for classic skiers in anticipation of a busy ski weekend. Classic Trail will be re-tracked this afternoon. With about an 11" well-packed base, trail conditions are excellent!

I cleaned up the skate lanes that were heavily travelled from this last weekend's candlelight event. The snow groomed up very nicely. The classic track is still clean and in good shape from last week. Conditions are very good to excellent. We are planning to freshen up skate lanes and track Sally's Classic trail later in the week.

I skated the river loop just after lunch. The skate deck was heavily traveled and a little beat-up with some boot tracks and snowmobile tracks, so skiing wasn't easy. However, just as I was going in, a groomer was heading out, so the trails should be in excellent condition by the end of the day. The classic tracks were firm and clean, you bet.

Really nice conditions at After Hours this afternoon. Skied about 15k and found very nice tracks throughout. Not groomed since the candle walk last night, but the trail was hard enough that it didn't matter. If you're driving there from a distance (like Duluth), remember that they have changing rooms in the chalet. Nice to not have to travel in ski clothes.

All the trails were in very good condition. Recently groomed and very little debris. Nice tracks and a clean flat skate deck. Get it!

We received about 2 inches of very light snow throughout the day. We have been out yesterday and today working out the icy conditions. All the main trails have been groomed and tracked excluding red pine and nebagamon creek trails. Sally's classic trail was groomed and tracked yesterday. Fresh snow today has some trails lightly covered with powder. Conditions are excellent with a very nice glide noted this evening while I was out skating.

Amazing! The groomers were able to turn near boiler plate surface to powdered crushed glass type snow. Both tracks and skate lane were fast yet controllable and kickable. Conventional hard wax gave great grip and the tracks and skate lane was clean with minimal litter. Top notch trail with excellent grooming.

Today we ripped up most of the old track and reconditioned the skate lanes from weekend icing. All trails are groomed. The interior trails around the chalet have been freshly tracked. Sally's Classic track will be groomed and tracked on Thursday. Expect conditions to vary, but improve as the weekend approaches. The skate lanes are in excellent condition and the track set mostly to full depth.
This Saturday, Feb 8th, we will be hosting our annual Candlelight ski and hike event. The program will be from 5-9pm and is free for all! We will be offering hot cocoa, apple cider, coffee, marshmallows for roasting, and a grill for everyone to use if you would like to bring food along. Ski conditions should be excellent with temps in the low 20's cooling to the teens during the event. Free pie and ice cream will be provided for children 11 and under thanks to the Brule Valley Ski Club. This is a great opportunity to get the family out to experience the ski trails at night.
