Skyline and Tornado in good shape with a few icy spots. Wirth Lake is alright but not the best. Fingers crossed the natural snow will last another couple weeks.

Skied much of natural trails including the lake and trails on other side of the lake were not groomed but golf course and tornado alley and beyond were freshly groomed and tracks were amazing! Also took the bridge over to the upper stadium and skied Judy's loop, and everything over there! Tracks were beautiful and some segments had not even been skied yet! Thanks to the groomers for getting out there early and having it ready for a beautiful, sunny, Sunday ski!

Our skijor team really appreciates access to the natural snow trails at Wirth! We found great (pristine in some spots) on the bog, connector, Erickson and wedding hill trails. Also hit up JD Rivers, the Wirth Lake connector and Bassett creek. Conditions were firm - which was great for the older dog. Thank you groomers!

With all the pros at the Birkie, us amateurs have taken over Theo Wirth (kinda like having a kegger when your parents are out of town). Trails are well groomed, a bit soft but the heavy use is patting it down. Great day for skiing. (And say hi to the kids from Project Success learning to ski near the Trailhead).

As of Friday early afternoon, Anwatin and Wirth Lake trails had not been groomed since the snow and blowing stopped. I don't think classic tracks had been set on them in that grooming, but there were homemade tracks in some places. JD Rivers Gardens, Tornado Alley, and Bassett Creek were groomed, freshly tracked, and lovely, even where they were soft. I didn't go farther south than the beginnings of Anwatin and Wirth Lake, so I can't speak for Butler and the rest. Lots of walker tracks on Tornado Alley, but they'd spared the classic tracks at least. Saw a flock of the weird overwintering robins socializing along the trail, and only four skiers and two skijorers in over an hour of skiing. Today should be spectacular on the natural snow trails!

The best I could do on the groomer was to get out of the shed. After that, too icy and slick, even with the ATV pulling the groomer. We will not be able to groom Eloise Butler or the bog until conditions improve. At the moment, the skate deck remains frozen with debris. Tracks are intermittent at best, icy, and lack depth in most places. Bottom line until conditions improve enough to allow grooming, this area is un-skiable. Try ice skates. Skyline, JD Rivers, and Tornado ally currently are in similar condition.

Skied the South Wirth trails after work from the parking lot at Wirth Lake, across the lake avoiding the hill, to Skyline and back. Classic trail was defined for the most part, a bit crunchy and fast. I usually finish in the dark but today finished in time to see the nice sunset. Hopefully the weather will stay cooler than the forecast.

Skied from Wirth Lake around noon time. Wirth Lake and north to the Trail Center was groomed last night, still a little hard/icy as the trail hadn't softened much despite the sun. Made for fast skiing. Eloise Butler and The Bog trails haven't been groomed since the race weekend, so was a little treacherous on downhills as was hard packed/icy and the ruts/un-even places from the race. Some places were softening up due to the sun, but much still in the shadows so doubt will soften up much in the afternoon. If not a good skier I'd wait a day.

I classic skied from the Wirth Lake parking lot, to the Wedding Hill, and then through the entire bog section. It was a mixed bag. On the one hand classic tracks were still deep and well defined. On the other, there was a consistent glaze from the weather yesterday. This meant that everything was quite slick, and that all of the irregularities in the snow from recent use of the skate deck had solidified into place. So striding in tracks was mostly fast and fun, but the steeper downhills were bumpy and a bit treacherous. Overall a great ski despite some white knuckle moments.
