The first thing I noticed when I picked up the Swix warm-up/training
suit was the weight of it, it surprised me and told me this
was no cheepo suit. The Swix hanger was a nice touch.
I was hoping to get the Swix warm-up in Skinnyski Blue
to match the team ski suits for this year but the Grey,
black and white is also nice.
Two things I have always wanted in a training suit are
pockets and ventilation, and this suit has plenty of both.
The jacket has a front pocket on the chest and two ventilation
ports in the back that can be opened or closed with zippers.
Most of the jacket is lined with a ventilation fabric and
the collar is thick, tall and comfy. The bottom of the jacket
can be cinched with a draw cord. There is no need to wear
a reflective vest on training runs anymore because reflective
tape has been stylishly sewn into the suit's design.
The pants have a wind repellent front material and a breathable
back. There are two pockets on the front just below the
waist line. I won't have an excuse for not having my Minnesota
State Trail Pass on me this winter. The other nice feature
of the pants is the full-length zipper running down the
outside of each leg, this will reduce the time and frustration
it takes to remove them before a race over my ski boots.
This suit has a lot of very nice features, but the thing
I notice most about the suit is the overall quality. Quality
is in every detail of the suit: the fabrics, zippers, snaps,
collar and cuffs.
When I called Swix about sizing they told me the jacket
is basically standard, but the pants run a bit on the small
size.
My hope is that the suit will keep me warm on those pre
race warm ups, and that it can regulate heat and body moisture
on my long slow training days. I might not win any races
but at least I'll be warm and not look like a tourist during
the race warm ups anymore.
