* ROLLING ON
The rollerskiing expo is in full swing on skinnyski.com.
Our rollerski trail database continues to grow, with over
a dozen new trails since we started (five in the past day!).
And we've already had two drawings for Yoko 232 rollerski
gloves from those who submitted new trail listings. This
week we are featuring the Camelbak Rocket, contributed by
REI, as our prize drawing. You've still got time to get
in your favorite rollerski trail before the drawing on Sunday
evening!

* THE TIMES, THEY ARE A CHANGING
Sometime in the next two weeks we'll introduce a completely
revamped web site. We are working on a newer, streamlined
design, that should make it easier to incorporate more content
this fall and winter. We'll have expanded trail coverage
this winter, more information on stores and equipment, and
enhanced lodging, just to mention a few of the changes.
Stay tuned, and be ready to update those bookmarks.
* AFTON ACTION
The 50K club moved it's Sunday 50K rollerskis back out to
Afton last weekend. The Afton course is regarded by many
as one of the best rollerski routes in the upper Midwest.
You can see photos and video clips from the initial weekend
in our Training section.

* HOT SWAMP THING
Chad Giese has been busy: photos and a video clip from one
of his unusual swamp workouts, plus a new journal entry
(related to hot weather training), along with some new training
tips, are all up on the Finn Sisu web site. (The swamp photos/video
are in the July 7th journal entry.)

* REPORTS FROM THE FIELD
We've posted field reports on the Yoko 232 rollerski glove,
as well as the new Camelbak Rocket hydration system, in
our Gear section. The Rocket came from REI here in the Twin
Cities, while the Yoko gloves were contributed by Pioneer
Sports.

* MAPLELAG ADVENTURE
Join the folks up at Maplelag for their annual Laddie's
Loppet Mountain Bike races on Sunday, September 3rd. Not
only will you get a chance to see first-hand the new lodge
construction, but if you tackle the expert 22 mile race,
you'll experience some of the best technical courses in
the state (designed by Jay Richards, a top rider himself).
They also have an eight mile course on a less technical
path. More details on the Maplelag web site:

* MORE PARK MOBILES
At the end of July, the Star Tribune posted an update on
the National Park Service's position towards snowmobiling
within the parks. One of the better quotes from the article:
"Once you let snowmobilers in the door, it's really hard
to get them out." Read the full article:

* ROLLERSKI TT
A number of metro skiers have been getting together each
fall for some informal (self-timed) time trials. The TT's
are usually held at Elm Creek on the smooth northern loop
trail one evening during the week. If you might be interested
in some fast paced training, drop us an e-mail and we'll
notify you when they start up.

* MYSTERY PHOTO
On Tuesday we posted a trail photo, and then ask skiers
to identify the location. Jay Tedeger picked it off on the
same day. The towers in the background (barely visible)
provided the strongest clue: the trail is the Cedar Lake
trail leading into downtown Mpls. See more photos from that
unique trail system, along with shots from the Medicine
Lake loop and the GGSA time trial route from Duluth, in
the rollerski trail listings.
