Elm Creek Relays
Thursday, February 10, 2005
Even with the wind blowing and new snow falling, the 2x2.5K
course feels fast but yet slower than one thinks. It must be
those wickedly fast skis waxed for the "City of Lakes Loppet".
Air temp. remains at about 29F, but with the wind, it feels
like in its teens. Matt Liebsch tried to break this year's course
record and led the race the entire way and finished 11:23. Matt
said he will be back and try the record again. Also, it's great
to see the regulars like Mark Byrnes, Chris Sachs, John Hopkins,
and Paul Schoening. Paul Earl-Torniainen decided not to race
with the baby on his back and stayed on the race course the
entire way. We are also very glad to see "Speedy"
race tonight. If you know "Speedy's" real name and
the story how he gets his nick name, you may get a door prize
at the next week's race. Anyway, welcome, "Speedy".
Here are tonight's race results:
Two laps of 2.5K Valley loop:
Matt Liebsch 11:23
Mark Byrnes 11:58
Chris Sachs 12:37
John Hopkins 12:48
Paul Schoening 13:51
Paul Earl-Torniainen 13:52
"Speedy" 13:54
Next week's race will be on Feb. 17, Thursday, at 6:30pm. If
you stuck in traffic or may be a bit late driving from work,
we'll definitely accommodate you for a few minutes as this race
is a low-key, good-effort, self-driven, high-intensity individual
time-trial. The news is that a couple of Subaru Team skiers
are planning to do the next week's time trial. We'll find out
whether they can break some solid course records.
