Elm Creek Relays
Thursday, January 6, 2004
24 skiers showed up at tonight's relay with the temperatures
in its mid teens (about 15F when the race started) and mild
wind chill. The distance was 5Km (2 loops of 2.5K). Since
most skiers wished to have their own time splits, the race
director decided to start the race with two heats/waves with
individual time splits. Matt Liebsch topped everyone with
11:39, and Chip Tabor came in just under 12 minutes (11:59).
Kay Adamson was the only woman who raced it and did well with
the time 14:47.

Even though the race traditionally has been a low key race and
designed to promote the XC skiing on the north and west side
of the Twin Cities, more serious racers have shown up and raced
with their great efforts. Reporters from Channel 9 TV News were
out there covering tonight's race.
With more participants, the race may resume its relay format
next week, Jan. 13, 2005 (Thursday) at 6:30pm.
