Rainbow Rendezvous Deux
Saturday, March 5, 2005
It was a near perfect race day with blue sky and little wind. The temperature
was 31F in the mid morning and went up to 36F when the race
started. The snow started to get wet but not sluggish. The
ones with warm glide wax and right rails did well. The 10K
course was well covered and groomed.
Pioneer Midwest ski team dominated the race and took the
top four spots. But the most impressive skier is the 7 year-old
Elise Lohmann from the Twin Cities skated the 10k course on
her brand new skate skis. This is her first time skate skiing
ever. She did so well on those hills.

The Pole Pedal Pant (10K freestyle ski, 10K mountain bike,
5K run) on March 12, 2005 will use the same 10k course for
the skiing section. A good turn out is anticipated. All race
bib numbers will be permanently retired to honor this race
traditionally held at Giants Ridge for the last 15 years.
