In Search of Snow

Biathletes from Minnesota made their annual trip to Silver
Star, British Columbia in search of cooler temperatures and
that elusive white fluffy stuff. Snow began falling in mid-October
and has held up ever since. "Rain threatened for a few days,
but the snow on the mountain is still great skiing," said
Andy Erickson of the Minnesota Biathlon Sr. Team.
The Minnesota Biathlon Sr. Team arrived November 10th to
begin their on snow training as they prepare for the Olympic
Trials. "Silver Star provides us with the ideal early season,
on snow altitude training camp," said Ryan Cameron. The team
will participate in four time trials and races throughout
the two week camp.
The U.S. Jr. National Biathlon Team and Jr. Development
Team are also holding camps in preparation for this season.
"This is the only place in the country, that consistently
has snow in early November," said Jr. Development Coach Piotr
Bednarski. The Jr. National Team will be in Silver Star through
the end of the month before heading to Utah for their first
races of the season.
